I'm trying to generate interest in a new series of programs I will be writing targeted to the average user. The first of these programs is already out, a robotic voice changer. If you like the program, consider signing up for my mailing list for these new projects. www.gmailinglist.com/coolstuff/Download it here! dl.dropbox.com/u/6316469/RoboFilter.zipJust download, unzip, and read the short instructions text file. There are three dials and some simple controls, just play around with it or hit the Help button for more specific instruction. You may want to try some familiar robot voices by positioning the left, middle, and right dials as follows: C-3PO from Star Wars: 9 o'clock, 10 o'clock, 7:30 (all the way left) Dalek from Dr. Who: 7:30 (all the way left), 7:30 (all the way left), 8 o'clock Cyberman from Dr. Who: 7:30 (all the way left), 7:30 (all the way left), 11 o'clock The folder includes compiled executables for the average user and source code for programmers.

Ah, good, a mailing list for your programs. EDIT: It said to contact the program vendor so here I am. Can't run the application (when I run setup). Here's the textdump it gave me. pastebin.com/RufAEXLv

It's definitely not autotune, that is much more complicated.
Qwerty, check your firewall settings.

Why would a program that doesn't use an internet connection require firewall settings to be changed? And which ones? And what does "deployment and application do not have matching security zones" mean?

I'm nearly as clueless as you are. This has never happened to me. Visual Basic applications are designed to be launched in many fashions, including from websites apparently. While I did my publish build to be a CD installation, which most closely approximates downloading and installing from a folder, it appears that there are some leftover security requirements in .NET intended to apply to online installations. Maybe you aren't logged in as an administrator, or maybe your firewall settings are preventing the application from installing. I am not exactly sure. You might consider installing Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express Edition for free and building the application from source. The good news there is that the C DLLs are already compiled and in place in the Visual Basic source directory so you will not need a C compiler and you will not need to build portaudio.

I think I already have Visual Basic, so it saves me time if I do that. I'll try it when I get home and get back to you.
For the record, I tried running it as admin and it did not a thing.
