Are you saying you wouldn't believe in a god if he came down and greeted you and showed you his power.

Actually? I'd probably believe I was hallucinating. Even spontaneous hallucination makes more sense than a theistic deity.

There's not any way to tell the difference.

Good job avoiding a perfectly valid argument. The point is, he IS real and you know it. Everyone knows it. Then what? Do you stick to your beliefs still?

If you mean that some god somehow proves his existence, then sure, I'd believe in it. That obviously hasn't happened yet.

Just believe whatever you think is right~_~ Yes, this is good. Although the topic of the thread might not be which is better, but which is right. In which case, I'm just going to say we can't know. Is easier than any debate we could get into. Because if there was a right one, that would be what everyone would believe in. So, I'm right? If you you proved to caveman (somehow) that the earth is round then they would all believe that.

There's not any way to tell the difference. What if someone you were with also saw them, or a entire group of people, for that matter?

Hallucinations tend to be self-reinforcing. Besides, we're talking about mental illness here. Schizophrenics are known to make whole alternate worlds to fit it.

Temporarily9, if I were standing there and told you that it was there, you wouldn't believe me?

I'd probably believe you for the sake of sanity, but the point is irrelevant. We're talking about facts and evidence here, not hypotheticals.

How about if it tried to prove its existence to you in some way? What would you believe of it, or request of it? I am not sure if this is hypothetical.

absence of proof =/= proof of absence
let people believe in what they want.
